I was born in 1980 in Manchester. Fun fact – that year, Liverpool took the title right in front of Manchester United with two points to spare. What a year for both me and the city of Manchester, eh! I spent most of my childhood and teenage years in Manchester, before moving to Oxford for my master’s degree. I studied at Oxford Brookes University and got my Master’s Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication in 2008.
My sports betting journey begins somewhere there. What started off as a hobby quickly became a passion that extended from betting on sports to enjoying every bit of the casino lifestyle. Shortly after university, I started working as a sports editor. It was my first proper gig and I was always going to make it count. My degree coupled with my newly-found passion was an instant hit.
Fast-forward to 2023 and I’m still doing what I do best! Since 2012, I’ve written 1,000+ betting & gambling articles and worked for some of the world’s largest casino brands and sportsbooks.
Why Did I Choose to Build My Career in the Online Gambling Industry?
Gambling became a hobby during my university days. The local casino place was just two blocks away so we would often hang out there with my buds. At first, I didn’t really think much of it. During my second year, I started doing research on the effects of gambling and the reasons behind excessive gambling.

It all started during my time at university. I had a group of friends and a great local gambling spot. We would often go there during our free time and hit the slot machines.

Online slots are luck-based games. There isn’t much you can do to maximise your winning potential. The only thing I can point out is that you should try to play games with higher RTP (return to player). Theoretically, these will give you a slight advantage in the long run.
